Swapping genders bc of another is crazy

She didn't swap genders. She identifies as Oden. Oden is a man, and if Oden is a man so is Yamato. If Oden was a women, Yamato would just refer to herself as 'she' because the whole point is that Yamato just wants to be Oden and carry out Oden's will. People get too hung up on the gender aspect of identification when it comes to Yamato. It's not about the gender, it's that she wants to be "this person" specifically and that person happens to be another gender so she'll be whatever that gender is.

For those that are confused about the whole Yamato situation, cuz I've seen a lot of people talking about this online.
Yamato is, in fact, a female. Oda confirmed this in her new data entry that she is a woman.
For a while after she was introduced the community was confused, with her
referring to herself as Oden, and Kaido and his crew referring to her as
"son" or "young master" (similar to how the samurai address Momonosuke).
Oda himself addressed it at one point, the message being that she wants to be Oden. Not a man, no sexuality or gender identification involved, just Oden. She only uses male pronounces because Oden used them.

Sadly, some Woke translators who missed the point of her character, just went with he/him. There are actual transsexual characters in OP however (Ivonkov his followers for example as well as Kiku). But Yamato's case is different. Kaido uses the ”he” pronouns mockingly because she's basically cosplaying as Oden, and everyone else uses that pronounce because Kaido uses it, that's all.
So, she’s female, plain and simple.

Yamato is female and only goes by male because Oden was a man, just like you said. If Oden had of been a woman Yamato would go by female.
